Two days to visit the unmissable sights in the most beautiful villages of the Marche hinterland.
Hotel Terme di Frasassi offers you an itinerary in the heart of the Marche, a route that winds through the villages
medieval, its pearls of beauty, experiences that are difficult to repeat in other areas.
In a radius of a few kilometers you can visit the Frasassi Caves, ancient karst caves with a fascinating
undisputed, the Valadier temple in white travertine marble built by order of Pope Leo XII inside a
rock. In contrast to the majesty of the temple is the small church of Santa Maria infrasaxa , which reminds many
the Porziuncola of San Francesco for its humble appearance.
We move away a few kilometers and arrive at Sassoferrato, a small medieval village with a beautiful historic center.
At the gates of the city is the archaeological mining park and the sulfur extraction mine , which offers guided tours with a section inside the extraction tunnel.
We continue our journey to Fabriano, where the Paper and Watermark Museum awaits us. Housed in the monumental complex of the recently restored former Dominican Convent, the museum represents seven hundred years of local papermaking tradition. The visit can be self-guided or with a guide. Upon reservation, workshops are available where you can make and take home a small filigree artifact.
We continue our fantastic journey through time with an excursion to Arcevia , once known as Rocca Contrada . Founded as a municipality in 1201, it remained one of the most important cities in the Marca throughout the Middle Ages, conquering walled villages and territories. The nine castles, still visible in the municipality of Arcevia, which between the 13th and 15th centuries became strategic fortified military garrisons essential for the defense of the territory and the city, still retain their medieval urban layout and city walls.
